John Westfall is the first-class drummer of No Excuses. He comes from years of experience as a percussionist playing in bands around the Northwest. John has a versatile drum style and prefers the flexibility of an electronic drum set which he plays with ease. His addition to the No Excuses roster rounds out their music with a beat that makes you want to dance and applaud at the same time!
Lee shares how John found himself in the ranks of No Excuses:
“I was rebuilding this 1927 Ford T-Bucket that needed some interior work. I couldn’t find anyone competent enough to fashion this hotrod with an interior worthy of any super custom car show, so I started ripping out the interior myself. This business card fell out of the old interior as I was ripping and shredding. Something made me call the number on the card and I found John Westfall on the other side of the phone. I brought him in and we worked on the interior of this T-Bucket. At some point I mentioned that I played guitar, to which he simply said, “Really? I play drums.” We jammed and tested each other. I found John to be one of the most talented drummers I’ve ever worked with. We started writing songs and eventually played in several bands before Cathi, John and I ran into Ray. This seems like a great fit for all of us, and John makes the beat rock.”
The NO EXCUSES T-Bucket graces the band’s promo CD cover and promo photo shoots. Bad Boyz Interiors by John Westfall has been credited with “the best custom interiors to grace all the local Northwest car shows,” with custom work done all over the local Southern Washington and North Oregon area. Lee also had John produce interior work for his Model A.
Making hotrods look slick on the inside brings out the smokin’ heartbeat of his drumming style. Find John on the stage at a No Excuses gig near you, focused on the beat.
